Returning with their first new album in 17 years, shoegaze heroes Swervedriver release I Wasn’t Born To Lose You this week on Cobraside.
The band has reunited since 2008 doing live shows, but never unveiled any new material until last year with the Deep Wound single and now with the brand new full length. After MBV releasing a brilliant album, Slowdive performing live again, Ride planning a world tour, Medicine getting back in the game with two albums in the 2010’s and Jesus And Mary Chain touring the US and Canada with the possibility of a new album, it seems like that wave of bands that shaped what we came to call Shoegaze is well alive.
I Wasn’t Born To Lose You isn’t Mezcal Head, but it’s an honest album from a band that has stayed reunited for seven years, releasing their new material on time with their fellow comrades, sounding revived and about to reach to the younger audiences, because kids these days need to get their hands on as many bands as Slowdive and Swervedriver as they can.
You can stream the whole album via NPR’s First Listen.
