Possibly the most impressive post rock record of these early days of the new year comes courtesy of Pennsylvania's four-piece, Heron, who have just released their debut full length, You Are Here Now.
Recorded live at Kane Memorial Chapel in Kane, PA, by the band's bassist, Eric Morelli, mixed by Matt Bayles (Minus the Bear, Pearl Jam, Caspian, Russian Circles) and mastered by Ed Brooks (Fleet Foxes, REM, Heart, Death Cab For Cutie), the band's debut stands as an exemplary, traditionally structured, anthemic post rock record, comprised of strictly instrumentals and modeled on some of the finest of the genre, yet the colourful warmth of its seven compositions and the band's ability to integrate the darkness and the wistfulness into the rich textures of their transcendental sound, are only some of the reason that justify You Are Here Now as a cutting edge and essential release for these first few weeks of 2017.
Heron cite among their influences a bunch of top acts of their kind, like This Will Destroy You, Sigur Rós, The Appleseed Cast and Pink Floyd.
