Comprised of Alvin Lee Ryan and Tony Russell, KAS-tro is an experimental electronic music duo from the UK, whom you may have met through their two releases so far or via their work with other acclaimed musicians like Clark, The Haxan Cloak, Raffertie, Darq E Freaker and more.
KAS-tro have just issued their third release, the EP Self Interest, once again mastered by Mandy Parnell (Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, Bjork, LCD, Junior Boy). The EP was recorded at the duo's studio in West London with a specific focus on using organic source sounds which differed from ordinary instruments to pieces of wood to objects like a packet of noodles.
Self Interest is comprised of three darkly minimal tracks that showcase KAS-tro's qualities in bringing together ambient music with elements of neoclassicism, bleak industrial beats and stringent R&B groove. Humours, the middle track off the three-song EP, comes out as probably the most exemplary sample of their sound, presenting the rhythmic frailty of their minimalistic artistry in less than three minutes.
