This may sound a bit ill-suited to some folks in the Northern hemisphere like us, but in this Bizarro World, Down Under, it is the heart of the summer, therefore the most appropriate of times for Melbourne-based four-piece Swim Team to put out their debut release, the Holiday EP, a collection of six garage pop tunes soaked in jangly and reverby guitars, profoundly influenced by nineties lo-fi indie rock and dreampop.
Swim Team started as an excuse for the band members to take a break from their other projects and hang out, but eventually it developed into a full time venture of its own for guitarists and vocalists Krystal Maynard (Bad Vision) and Sammy Wass (The Pink Tiles) who were joined by their friends, Esther Sandler (PAPPY) and TJ Day who provide their talents on bass and drums respectively.
Holiday EP was captured live at Audrey Studios in Coburg with Tom Hardisty (Chook Race, NUN, Woollen Kits) and it exposes the band's spontaneous, imperfect, yet much lively and highly energetic jangle pop sound.
