Saxophonist and multireedist Colin Stetson has released a series of notable albums under his own name, yet, he is mostly known as a reliable sideman to many alternative rock heavy hitters who have used his skills and services in their works, including Tom Waits, Arcade Fire, TV on the Radio, Feist, Bon Iver, Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, David Gilmour, Sinéad O'Connor, LCD Soundsystem, The Chemical Brothers, Animal Collective, The National and Godspeed You! Black Emperor to name only a few.
His latest project is called Ex Eye and features Greg Fox of Liturgy on drums, Shahzad Ismaily of Secret Chiefs 3 and Ceramic Dog on synths and Toby Summerfield on guitar.
Their self titled album was just released by Relapse, and it is a cutting-edge and cathartic instrumental record which leans mostly on the heavier side of progressive metal, but which the band likes to simply call "post-everything."
