Even though 2017 was the year Blushing broke out and made heads turn their way with the release of their debut EP, Tether, this year it seems like it's going to be an even bigger one for the auspicious shoegaze quartet comprised of two husband and wife pairs, since it began with the release of their impressive sophomore outing, Weak.
One year after their debut and contrary to their new EP's title, Blushing sound stronger, more matured and more daring. Through the colorful tunefulness of their five new songs, the sweet and rich production and excellent musicianship, Blushing appear more confident than ever, and Weak feels like the epitome of the quartet's take on dreampop and shoegaze. Intriguing, reverb-heavy and at times eruptive, but also carrying a melodic distinctness which makes the whole set of songs as memorable as it is seductive, Weak is a big leap forward for a band which without doubt has yet places to go and peaks to top out.
The EP is out on vinyl on the always upright and trustworthy, Austin Town Hall Records, and on cassette via the band's Bandcamp. A release show is happening tonight, January 27th at Cheer Up Charlies in Austin, TX, alongside Ringo Deathstarr, Single Lash and All In The Golden Afternoon.
