Veteran British post-rockers, Her Name Is Calla, haven't released a proper album since 2014's The Navigator, but the band has certainly been active these past few years, having produced a ten-year anniversary documentary, A Wave Of Endorphins, and its accompanying soundtrack, a 7-inch split with Deadwall as part of the Leeds singles club series, Come Play With Me, as well as a live album.
2018 is promised to be a productive year for Her Name Is Calla, as the band is scheduled to release a brand new EP this June, and their new, fifth full length in October.
First off, the EP, The Dead Rift comes June 15th on Function Records, on 10-inch vinyl and digital download. Its opening, self-titled track is a magnificent example of the band's folk-inclined post rock sound, their great ear for imposing, dramatic instrumentation, and their impulsive knack for grand build-ups and cathartic climaxes.
The song comes with a good looking DIY video, and it confirms the experienced band currently being in great form.
Catch the band live at the following dates throughout the UK and Ireland, with much more to be announced across Europe and Scandinavia this Fall, closer to the album's release.
