Having evolved from a duo to a quartet, Moon Panda is a multinational bunch with its members hailing from California, Denmark and different parts of the UK. The band, led by Maddy Myers, is about to release its debut EP, recorded with producer Cam Blackwood (The Horrors, British Sea Power, London Grammar, Florence and The Machine), introduced by first single, Rabbit.
"Rabbit is about unhealthy love. It’s someone so infatuated with their partner that they can’t end their tragic, dependent relationship. I wanted Rabbit to feel quite hypnotic and have some edge. Like a predator lurking around," Maddy Myers describes, drawing inspiration for the song from a character formed in Heiko Julien’s collection of love poems, I'm Ready To Die A Violent Death.
In all its highly artistic sensibility and its technical excellence, Rabbit brings together a group of tasteful styles and influences to a remarkable and cohesive piece which sounds firmly founded on dreampop and psychedelic pop, and dares to even reach the boundaries of post rock, all that in less than four minutes of wonderful songwriting and strong execution.
