Multi-instrumentalist Sebastiaan van Ravenhorst from Amsterdam, writes, plays and records a very fresh and lively kind of dreampop music under the moniker Van Common, with a completely DIY mindset and entirely dedicated to his fine craft.
"I didn’t want to get out of the house anymore," he says about the time when he raided the local supermarket, in order to supply himself with enough provisions so he could last a whole week on his own, with the distractions of the outside world. "I wanted to completely let go of my every day surroundings and focus on writing and recording music for the EP."
How To Disappear carries much of that modesty and introversion that leaps out from the artist's character and creativity, and it emerges excellently constructed, and like a fine bridge between the warm dreampop, hazy shoegaze and glittering psychedelic qualities that comprise his distinctive sound.
Time Is A Dream, the forthcoming five-song EP by Van Common comes out early March 2019.
