Two Aprils ago, Australian garage punk quartet, Los Tones released their impressive sophomore LP, What Happened, a great exploration of a gritty and direct rock sound. The album is followed by the band's first piece of new music in two years, the just released, electrifying, standalone single, Manipulation.
Having mastered the art of seamless amalgamation between passages of surf rock, desert rock, punk and psychedelia, Manipulation is nothing less splendid than what the band's fans would have expected. Blunt, memorable and irresistibly groovy, the three and a half minute rocker follows the genre's tropes respectfully and zealously, and sounds fresh and astute. It comes with a visual which looks as frantic and vibrant as the track itself.
According to the band, the new song "is about the inability to change. In the face of contradictory evidence, it takes something truly special to trust one’s own experiences and knowledge above all else."
