That full grown and fully realized entity that started as Jacob Bannon's experimental solo project, Wear Your Wounds, will soon be releasing their anticipated new album, Rust on the Gates of Heaven, via Deathwish Inc. The album is due out July 12th, 2019, and Shrinking Violet, together with its accompanying video, becomes the second offering off it.
Striking as a progressive rock ballad, the song stands very far from the hardcore origins of Bannon and his bandmates, and it awes through its grandeur, its steady and creative build up and its manifold character, as its seems to be drawing from a few different aspects of heavy rock, both contemporary and traditional.
Following the Max Moore-directed title track from last month, the black and white clip for Shrinking Violet was directed and edited by Reid Haithcock, starring Jen Hasty and Daniel White.
Wear Your Wounds are Jacob Bannon (Converge), Mike McKenzie (The Red Chord, Stomach Earth, Unraveller, etc), Adam McGrath (Cave In, Nomad Stones, etc), Sean Martin (Twitching Tongues, ex-Hatebreed, ex-Kid Cudi), and Chris Maggio (ex-Trap Them, ex-Sleigh Bells, etc). The band will be soon going on tour with Torche in support of the upcoming album.
