Toronto up and comers, Sicayda, have recently come through with the release of their debut EP, Sown, on which they present their fuzzy and strongly inclined toward shoegaze alternative rock sound.
Opener, Go On, kicks off the quartet's first release to an impressive start. It's a bursting piece, brimful of the band's love for shoegaze's enchanting standards, and something that could just as well earn a place alongside the oversaturated colorfulness of MBV and Swervedriver, as well as the alluring loudness of Dinosaur Jr.
The rest of the very much worth exploring EP, delivers a well balanced fusion of the band's both more melodious and more cacophonous sides, with the songwriting quality demonstrating the many strengths of Sicayda's first ever release.
Sicayda are Marcos Villar (guitar, vocals), Kevin Tipan (guitar, vocals), Ian Fragomeni (drums, keys) and Zachary Clarke (bass).
