Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, tough to pintpoint septet, Bored Man Overboard, are finally coming through with the release of their first full length in nine years. The ten-song LP, Home, was produced by Philip Lekström, mixed by Brandon Eggleston (Swans, The Album Leaf, The Dandy Warhols, Modest Mouse, Wye Oak), and mastered at Dynamic Sound Service by Blake Bickel (The Chameleons, Soft Kill, Drab Majesty).
Opening piece, A Sigh, I Shiver, is a seamless combination of gazey indie rock wistfulness, post rock magnitude, darkly low rock and entrancing lyricism. Like everything in the band's repertoire, the song draws elements from unexpected and diverse sources including even classical music, to a striking effect. Slowly and steadily building its tension through fuzz and well constructed instrumentals, the song warmly lights up with poignancy and sophistication, and it becomes an exquisite introduction for a beguiling and long overdue LP.
Home is out now through Svart Kaffe Records.
