True Meridian is the upcoming full length by Eugene, Oregon-based post rockers, Gazelle(s), and the follow up to the band's debut, There's No One New Around You. The new album was recorded in Portland's Hallowed Halls studios with Brandon Eggleston (Swans, Modest Mouse, Grails), and comes out in its entirety on June 19th, 2020.
Through their an incredibly intricate style of instrumentation which prominently features vibrant violins and string arrangements, the band's sound offers much ground for references and comparisons, yet, it comes fundamentally different than most of their contemporaries, and stands close to the genre's basics, but at the same time it doesn't seem to be following any specific mandates. Gazelle(s) take their instrumental progressive and post rock sensibility, and move it through math-y, desert rock and Americana territories, while their compositions even venture in the vicinity of doom metal in a very natural manner.
Clemency for the Heathen features Krist Novoselic on accordion, and sees the band capitalizing on the cinematic aspect of their craft. Over seven minutes in length, the song sways among all of the forenamed styles to eventually come into something genuine and state of the art.
