Hearts and Rockets: Dead As Disco

Bold synths, a punk attitude, disco pop aesthetics and a lot of energy are the main ingredients which make Dead As Disco, the latest single and video from Melbourne's Hearts and Rockets reach a quite high level of allure. The song is part of the band's new double A-side seven-inch which also features their recent single, Workout.

The band describe their sound as 'feminist bratwave', and cite influence from Donna Summer, eighties game shows and punk rock, all of which are fairly evident in the song's lyrics, its youthful vitality and overall acuteness.

The new single comes following the duo's two albums and three split EPs (with Piss Factory, Shrimpwitch and Zig Zag), and it was mixed and mastered by their frequent collaborator, Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppresssion Ring/Total Control).

Dead As Disco is paired to a simple, yet, very much vivid visual created by the group's own, Kalindy Williams.

Hearts and Rockets are Kalindy Williams and Kurt Eckardt. Workout / Dead As Disco 7" is out through Psychic Hysteria.
