North Swedish duo, Red Mecca, offer a gripping fusion which encompasses post punk, darkwave and contemporary electronica, notably harping on acute production, and emerging with a predominantly dark feel.
The band have their sixth album, Away, freshly out, and off it the opening track and lead single, All Those Stored Errors, makes clear their soulful approach to their substantially dark sound. Narrowly more vivacious than Red Mecca's usual ways, the song isn't without its fair amount of melancholy and dreaminess, and it paves the way for the rest of the band's moody quaintness which follows.
Red Mecca are composed of Jan Strandqvist, formerly keyboardist and percussionist of Brända Barn, alongside vocalist Susanne Jonsson.
