The quite upfront, Call the Pigs, one of the standout pieces on Casual Drag, the newest, solid album by NC punks, Totally Slow, has received the video treatment in the hands of documentary filmmaker, John Rash, who asked the band to create the accompanying visual for the track. The result combines scenes from Totally Slow's live set from Cat's Cradle earlier in 2021 together with footage from local Black Lives Matter / Confederate protests.
"Lyrically the song is about my struggle with protest/civil mischief and how it in its own way reflects my privilege," comments the band's own Scott Hicks.
Although the song is melodically among the more accessible moments of the band's new album, its concept and message aren't at all mild. Instead Totally Slow put forward something forceful which continues with the head on confrontation of some of the most major flaws in society.
