One of the earliest impressive numbers on the catalog of Oliver Ackermann’s (A Place to Bury Strangers, Death by Audio) new label, Dedstrange, comes courtesy of Berlin rockers, Data Animal.
The band follow their debut single, Death Racer, with new track, Bad M.F. and its accompanying video. Mixing good, traditional rock 'n' roll with post punk and elements from no wave, industrial and noise rock, it could be assumed that Data Animal surface with something convoluted, yet, their sound is a rather direct endeavor, and their means thus far seem absolutely natural.
"Bad M.F. deals with themes of nihilism, narcissism and the death drive within a digital context," the band reveal, while citing influence from Suicide, Throbbing Gristle, Spaceman 3 and Boris, obviously all implemented in what they have to offer with a lot of savvy and taste.
