A little after the project's introductory single, Your Way, British shoegazer Orton unveils new EP track, Amongst Us. For the artist the song worked as a coping mechanism for his own uncertainty and lack of confidence.
"Amongst Us was a bit of anomaly for me," Will Crumpton aka Orton explains. "Usually, my songs go through several incarnations before I find a final form of it. It was written in the middle of the night on New Year’s Day and was pretty much unchanged from that point. For me it was a way of processing a lot of the social anxiety I felt over the previous few months. I could see myself reflecting other people’s personalities because I wasn’t particularly happy with my own and always battling that feeling that you’re far from being the best version of yourself."
With an even heavier and more distorted direction than before, Orton's second single shows beyond doubt the act's song-crafting expertise once more.
The debut EP, Sparring, was mastered by Alex Wharton (My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, Portishead) at Abbey Road Studios, and it comes out on October 29th, 2021 on Phlexx Records.
