Australian act VACUUM are composed of Jenny Branagan (NUN) and Andrea Blake (ASPS/Chrome Dome), and since their formation in 2013 they have been only a live performance project. The duo have decided to enter the recording world with their impending self-titled debut full length, arriving on December 3rd, 2021 through Heavy Machinery Records and It Records.
First single and the album's opening number, DREDD, has danger, post apocalypse and gloom in its core, and it's described by the band as “a homage to Model 500, dancefloor anxiety and the Mega City One universe of Judge Dredd.” Furthermore, the piece's nonconformist nature together with the accompanying video's deviant sensuality and automotive aesthetics summon up the world of J. G. Ballard, The Normal and a few more instances related to mechanophilia in popular culture and advertising.
The clip was filmed in collaboration with cinematographer Xavier Irvine, Sagan Productions and VACUUM, starring Andrea Blake, Jenny Branagan, Caitlin Hurik and Roland Hvlak’s Volvo.
