The Island is a pretty bizarre partnership between S. Howe (Schooner) and Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE, The Stooges). The pair creates a difficult to define avant garde blend of noise rock, slowcore, and post rock experimentalism with spoken word delivery and unique patterns.
3 2s & 2 3s is the project's second production after Channels in 2010. The five-track release was written during a three-month period in the fall of 2018.
The new record is a joint representation of assertiveness, defiance, and devotion, as well as an odd and quite artistic listen which has the aptitude to fascinate those initiated to more intricate and impulsive noise rock sounds.
