This is the seventh (!) time Boris and Merzbow are collaborating on a project and from the looks and sounds of it, it might be their most ambitious joint effort yet.
Gensho will be an interactive album comprised of two parts; one will be bits from Boris' classic cuts like Amplifier Worship and Pink, as well as a cover of My Bloody Valentine's Sometimes, totally reinvented with no percussion whatsoever, while Merzbow's part will be comprised of brand new compositions.
One can certainly enjoy the two sets individually, but the intention of this release is that the two sets will be played simultaneously, either at the same volume or adjusting either channel to your preference, getting an as described "near-infinite potential for aural discovery".
