Melbourne, Australia's dark folk songwriter, Em Highfield, creates a hauntingly beautiful amalgam of traditional folk music, dreampop, gothic and metal, throwing her own unique voice into the same dark music pit that in recent years has sprung the talents of Chelsea Wolfe, Marissa Nadler, Emma Ruth Rundle and previously artists like Jarboe and Nico.
In her own words, Highfield "likes to weave folk stylings, metal intensity and acoustic tones with reflective lyrics," and obviously she has quite the knack for it.
