Produced by Josh Korody (Dilly Dally, Beliefs, Moon King, Fucked Up), the new EP by Toronto's Traitrs is scheduled to be out on May 5th. After its title track, one more dark and cold post punk number is revealed off Speak In Tongues. Hand Of Holy Fingers sounds just as bleak.
"As soon as we finished recording Rites and Ritual we started writing new demos," says Traitrs' singer/guitarist, Shawn Tucker. "We talked about many elements we wanted to try exploring after R&R without losing what we've become but at the same time expanding and developing our sound. A major theme on Speak In Tongues is illness, and death. Early on I began reading old stories, watching documentaries and looking into articles on old asylums and the practices on the residents. Topeka, Danvers, Bedlam and countless others. The more I submerged myself in this world, the writing became more and more brutal and horrifying. Speak in Tongues was inspired by how darkly laced humanity is. A politically apocalyptic way of watching the decimation of the planet and ourselves."
In support of their new release Traitrs are headed to Europe for a number of dates as listed below.
