Keith Mitchell, the excellent drummer behind all of Mazzy Star's studio albums - including their 2013 comeback record, has reportedly passed away.
Hope Sandoval and David Roback, his bandmates in Mazzy star have issued the following statement: "Our hearts are broken. We have lost the much beloved Keith Mitchell, a very talented and amazing drummer that we have had the privilege to work with for many years, he will live in all of our hearts forever.... We’ll miss you, Big Fella."
Mitchell has been with the band since their days as Opal, with Kendra Smith before she left the group to be replaced by Sandoval and eventually reincarnate as Mazzy Star in 1989.
Some hero on Youtube has uploaded an amazing live show by Opal, recorded in Italy in 1988. Watch it below, followed by a broadcast from TV program, Bombshelter Videos, playing the music video for Happy Nightmare Baby, introduced by David Roback, Hope Sandoval and Suki Ewers.
