D//E Premiere: Swine Tax: Empty Life

Newcastle upon Tyne based alternative rock trio Swine Tax have been consistently impressive with their first couple of singles so far. Their style of post-punk infused dauntless indie rock channels equal amounts of British and American influences but never loses its individual character.

Empty Life, the band's third single - and second consecutive one we get to premiere, is a juxtaposition of two seemingly incompatibles: the lively and upbeat melodies and instrumentation versus the wittily wistful and melancholic vocals and lyrics which overflow in heartbreak, remorse and endless nihilism.

Swine Tax make clear that "although the new song is widely relatable in its themes, it is borne out of vocalist Lisle's own lived experience of suffering a life-changing chronic pain condition."

Fans of Pavement and Yo La Tengo but also those of The Wedding Present, Teenage Fanclub, The Wonder Stuff, The Blue Aeroplanes and whomever else fits the powerful guitar-driven art rock description, rejoice, as the latest single by Swine Tax streams for the first time ever right below.
