Seattle three-piece, Spirit Award, release the third single off the band's stellar debut, Neverending, recorded with the help of Jack Endino (Nirvana), and Eric Corson (Perfume Genius, Ceremony), Connor Birch, and GG Reynolds (Sleater-Kinney).
The band attributes the album's dark and contemplative tone to much realness that came through "the death of a family member, anxiety, a robbery, and the ending of a relationship," and calls it Neverending due to the fact that it required two whole years in the making.
Spirit Award anchor their sound on post-punk and new wave, but with zeal it also crosses over to other sonic territories like krautrock and shoegaze.
"The idea behind Diving was that we all are feeling the stress of life, politics, state of the world and people trying to drag us down," Daniel reflects on his band's latest single. "It's comforting to me knowing that someone shares my same struggles, and we can share in that difficulty together and try and move past it."
Neverending is out now on Union Zero.
