The sophomore album by English quintet Ulrika Spacek, titled Modern English Decoration and released last summer via Tough Love Records, has all the characteristics of a classic indie record that could firmly stand the test of time, and it certainly deserves all the appreciation it can get, as well as a spot among the finest albums of the year. While drawing influence from much of the indie scene of the nineties, alongside inspiration from even more aged and timeless sources like art rock, punk and krautrock, the sound of Ulrika Spacek remains fresh and bold.
The version of Mimi Pretend which follows is another live in-studio take from the constantly reliable Live At Tapetown series shot in Denmark during the band's Fall 2017 tour.
Ulrika Spacek is currently supporting Ride on tour of the UK.
