Victim is the new single by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Veronica Bianqui, who is also a member of psychedelic pop/rock band, The Blank Tapes and currently in preparations for the release of her debut solo album.
Earlier in the year Veronica put out a cassette single release of Aah, Paris… and If Love’s A Gun, I’m Better Off Dead on Lolipop Records, which is now followed by Victim, a song written four years ago but now connected to the recent untimely death of her sister at the age of 35, after struggling with drug addiction for years. Bianqui is donating 100% of the proceeds to Harm Reduction Coalition.
"I wrote this song when I started discovering how being emotionally co-dependent has negatively affected my life by creating a pattern of self-victimization," Bianqui states. "Now, to me, it represents the hope for addicts to escape from their cycle of addiction. I hope it serves as inspiration for addicts and their loved ones around the world that you can put your foot down and change—that you don’t have to be a victim, like my sister—and so many millions of others—unfortunately have been."
The sixties garage pop aesthetics of the well structured and vivaciously executed song are a perfect match to the accompanying video's worn out, vintage, colorful and ultra stylish visuals.
Veronica Bianqui's debut full length, produced by herself and her bandmate in The Blank Tapes, Matt Adams, and recorded with Mark Rains (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Shooter Jennings, Death Valley Girls), is expected in 2018.
