72 and Sunny is the debut single by Cardiff/London-based shoegaze band, Wylderness, who will be releasing their debut album early next year. The band has already made a mark through their live shows in support of acts such as Pinkshinyultrablast and Acid Mothers Temple, and for their notable sunbathed sound they seem to be drawing influence from some of the genre's finest like Ride and My Bloody Valentine, and also from more contemporary shoegaze acts like DIIV and Wild Nothing.
Their debut single, lyrically tackles on both the dangers and excitement of a daring escape to an unknown world and it bases its main concept on the mythologised Welsh exodus to Patagonia. It is already out on Succulent Recordings, it comes with a great looking music video directed by Tom Betts and filmed in Gran Canaria, Barcelona, Barry Island and Cardiff, and it emerges as a bold first release for the British four-piece, about whom we'll be certainly hearing more in the near future.
