Brooklyn-based quartet, UV Rays, have been making a name for themselves with their latest releases, drawing inspiration for their sound's intricacy from Japanese math rock and nineties' American indie rock. After their well received EP, Picking at the Bones, from late 2017, and the recently unveiled single, Facade, the band is back with a splendid new track.
The new single, Distraction, is a tight, two and a half-minute rocker based on equal measures of power pop harmoniousness, technical sophistication and DIY directness, a combination which UV Rays have been developing since their early recordings.
"The song dives headfirst into anxiety, capturing the body at war with itself," the band states.
UV Rays are Adrien DeFontaine (guitar, vocals), Tim Marchetta-Wood (bass, vocals), Daniel Sullivan (guitar) and Rhee Warner (drums, vocals).
