If you remember Brit indie rock heroes, Marion, from the nineties, you are in for a treat, since there is a fresh, up and coming garage pop trio, led by the acclaimed band's former guitarist/songwriter, Anthony Grantham, and it sounds good and incredibly lively.
Based in Manchester, The Mu-Tones' lineup is completed by Alex Redhead on bass, formerly of Amplifier, a heavier, also English act that goes back to the nineties, and drummer Peter Gray who used to play with Letters to Fiesta.
Going along the traditional, direct three-minute format, the debut single by The Mu-Tones represents their artistic philosophy and intentions to come up with noisy, straightforward songs. Slab City Records is a paradigm of the band's explosive sound and fervency. Anthony describes the songs he has created with his new band: "Some of them are about how I feel, and some of them show how I feel without making a lot of sense."
The single is due out June 30th, 2018, through Ugly Man Records, a historic indie label responsible for wonderful releases by acts such as Black, Elbow, I Am Kloot and many others. A launch show will take place at Jimmy's Northern Quarter in Manchester on the same night.
