With their popularity constantly on the rise, and for all the right reasons, British duo, Drenge return with their first piece of new music in a while. Brothers Eoin and Rory Loveless gear up to follow their critically successful albums, Drenge and Undertow from 2013 and 2015 respectively with a new EP, Autonomy, scheduled for release on October 5th, 2018.
"Before The War Begins is half a love-song and half a hate-song," Eoin explains. "Like most of our work, it's a experiment in traditional songwriting gone wrong. A long hot summer and a hosepipe ban has the narrator comparing their deteriorating and dehydrated love life to a war torn city. Along the way they consider how 62 years after the Hungarian revolution there are still places where you can see the bullet holes in the walls in Budapest and how being whisked up by an exciting stranger translates to a long term relationship."
It's a vibrant, post punk-inclined track, suited for taking the mainstream by storm, but then again the world isn't so perfect.
