Imagine a car driving along an immense, idyllic New Zealand landscape. Picture it hitting its breaks hard and stopping right beside a billboard that depicts graphic anti-choice images of a fetus, and fancy someone getting out of that car, grabbing a crowbar out of the trunk and going nuts on the sign, demolishing the thing to pieces. That scene actually happened, and that someone is HEX's Kiki Van Newtown who with her upcoming band turned her experience into a dynamite of a song, now accompanied by a great looking clip.
Well balancing the darkness with its firm and sprightly energy, Billboard is one of the highlights on HEX's new album, The Hill Temple; a pro-choice anthem by a band which may be still in flux, but also looks forward and keeps going strong after its recent change in personnel.
