David Lynch plus Angelo Badalamenti equals guaranteed artistic intrigued. The duo has produced over the years a whole series of iconic film and television score releases, as well as other collaborative projects, such as the soundtracks for Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Wild At Heart, Lost Highway, The Straight Story, Mullholland Drive, Rabbits, as well as two Julee Cruise albums and a musical play titled Industrial Symphony No. 1: The Dream of the Broken Hearted.
The two artists are responsible for a side project, Thought Gang, under which they recorded an album that remained in the drawers for a whole 25 years, until this November when it's finally being released by Sacred Bones.
It is an avant-garde jazz album, weird and graceful as expected, previewed by Woodcutters From Fiery Ships, a dark, profoundly poetic piece, much redolent of the duo's previous work, especially on the latest installment of Twin Peaks. More Thought Gang material has been tested over the years, mostly on the Twin Peaks universe, more specifically on Fire Walk With Me and Twin Peaks: The Return, but this is the first time a proper album by this project sees the light of day.
Lynch has also created a film short that will premiere at his upcoming Festival of Disruption, happening October 13-14th in Los Angeles.
