A little after Sorry, from last September, Sydney-based dreampop band, Egoism, unveil another single off their anticipated second EP.
The very harmonious, Enemies, takes the term "bedroom pop" verbatim, as the track was recorded almost entirely in a single bedroom. It is one more fine, well constructed piece which showcases the band's inclinations toward a shiny and nostalgic dreampop sound, always interesting lyrically and delivered keenly, with sharp precision.
"So Enemies is really just about mental health and how it can affect the people you love," Egoism's own Olive Rush comments. "We're both people that have never had anyone we'd describe as an 'enemy'; I think we're both too busy criticizing ourselves and worrying about what the hell we're doing with our lives. But when it gets to the point that those thoughts are driving us away from each other, it ends up feeling like the real enemy is inside you. So this song is about desperately communicating all those thoughts to each other."
