After leaving LA punk rockers FIDLAR about four years ago, Danny Nogueiras came up with a more mature sounding power pop project, NO WIN who are about to release their debut full length. downey is due out March 22nd, 2019 via Dangerbird Records.
"I worked to the bone on this record," says Nogueiras, "I make this kind of music because I love it genuinely, and I want as many people as possible to enjoy it."
"It’s a good representation of where I come from, and it’s nostalgic for certain elements of the past while still being sad about them," he adds, revealing that the forthcoming album takes its name from the Southern California city the artist grew up in. downey was recorded at Balboa Recording Studio in LA, which he built himself, with bassist David Jerkovich (Kind Of Like Spitting, Novi Split), drummer Jeff Enzor (ex-Joyce Manor) and lead guitarist Juan Liñan. It was mixed by veteran producer/engineer John Goodmanson whose work we've heard in the music of acts like Blonde Redhead, The Posies and Sleater-Kinney.
Taking its name from the once popular actress, Shelley Duvall is a radiant power pop track with a strong spirit, which first appeared on the band's self-titled EP in 2015. This new, much sharper and cultivated version of it presents the band's strengths and the freshness of their sound at their peak.
