Very close to this exact date 39 years ago, on February 16th, 1980, Throbbing Gristle recorded their seminal live album, Heathen Earth, at the Industrial Records studio in front of an invited audience, every person of which they credited by name on the record.
The intimate performance was captured on video by industrial music legend and originator of the the phrase "Industrial Music for Industrial People," Monte Cazazza, and finds TG at the peak of their strengths during their first era.
Although improvised for its most parts, on Heathen Earth TG often border on a more coherent sound, while remaining superbly eccentric and unorthodox as they ever were.
Here are Chris Carter, the late Peter Christopherson, Genesis P-Orridge, and Cosey Fanni Tutti, back in time and ahead of the curve.
