Half of Texan exploratory electronica band, S U R V I V E, Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein half proven themselves as prolific and efficient film composers, having scored Matthew Libatique’s short film, A Different Beyond, the Darren Aronofsky produced VR series, Spheres, and above all, the Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated scores for Stranger Things.
The composing duo is now taking on the feature film format with their score for Rashid Johnson's directorial debut, Native Son, a modern reimagining of Richard Wright’s coming-of-age novel of the same title. The film releases on April 5th, 2019 by HBO Films and A24, with its accompanying soundtrack coming out on the same day through Milan Records.
A riveting, eerily atmospheric, synth-laden, four and a half-minute piece, Affluenza, sounds very close to the distinctively exhilarating, mood-setting and expansive sound, for which the duo has stood out and won awards and accolades.
Native Son is only the first of the many projects Dixon and Stein have going on, which include National Geographic's Valley of the Boom, the three-part British series, Butterfly, and the next season of Stranger Things.
