Providers of witty songwriting and energetic delivery, Newcastle's Swine Tax keep on evolving as a powerful power pop trio since their inception in 2017. The band steadily comes forth with a bright new number on a regular basis, with the crisp, I'd Like being the newest sample of their cheeky craftiness.
In equal measures ardent and laid back, I'd Like is an observational and often playful glance on modern life, founded once more on the jest of Swine Tax's well crafted lyricism and their love for a forceful, rigid guitar driven sound. With I'd Like, Swine Tax approach the garage rock sound of the sixties closer than ever, and bring to mind that glowing vigor The Yardbirds and The Kinks had to offer as young bands.
Brassy, tongue in cheek, yet, fragile and thought provoking, Swine Tax's new single is the latest of the many times the band has put their intellect to excellent use, and we are in for more like it, as the band is currently working on new material.
