Bringing together sounds and aesthetics from shoegaze, dreampop and lo-fi chillwave, Amsterdam’s multi-instrumentalist Sebastiaan van Ravenhorst aka Van Common, releases his debut EP, Time Is A Dream, on March 8th, 2019 through the Brooklyn based indie label, Sleep Well Records.
Van Common writes, sings, plays all instruments and records his music himself, and he does all of that remarkably well, as it becomes evidently clear in the new EP.
This Afternoon, a mellow, laid back cut off the upcoming record, is a fantastic, notable achievement, carrying all those sharply executed dreampop standards that make Van Common's sound appearing so wistful, hazy and dreamlike, while the artist's soft and crooning vocal delivery is only one, but probably the strongest part of his multifarious originality.
Van Common shines on each individual track, and makes up for an even more engaging listen through the EP's totality, a thing full of tasteful dreampop warmth.
