From the moment the album's first press release went out, many of us became a little extra curious about how that Guns N’ Roses cover would sound like in the hands of gothic folk songstress, Marissa Nadler, and heavy rock vet, Stephen Brodsky. The hard rock classic, Estranged, off Use Your Illusion II from 1991, has now an epic, stripped down to its core, folk version, which although is a whole two minutes shorter than the original, it still clocks in at seven and a half minutes, presented quite wholesome for a folk ballad.
Since childhood, Nadler became fascinated by the GN'R’ video in which Axl Rose swam with dolphins, and 28 years after the influential song's release, she gets a chance to come up with her own version, a piece that demonstrates that this collaboration between the two creatives is a seamless one.
Droneflower, the anticipated album by Marissa Nadler and Stephen Brodsky will be out April 26th, 2019 via Sacred Bones.
