Two years after their debut, The Red EP, Portland duo, Second Sleep, return with their sophomore effort, Crows, a four-track release which marks their departure from the stoner metal-inclined heavy post rock sound of their previous offering, and finds the band directed more toward noise rock.
"Most of the material from the Red EP was written before Second Sleep existed, they were ideas T.J. (Burke) and I had as our last band was disintegrating and they became the seeds for Second Sleep," says the band's own, Bruce Reed. "The songs came before the band and they existed a long time before we finally released them. I love those songs, but we’ve had them a long time. Crows is a much more realized expression of who we are now, and where we are going."
The dense, tightly executed and sharply produced, Bro Spirit, is the lead track from the upcoming EP, and it comes with some vintage visuals of race car footage from 1962, originally by Ford Motor Company and McGraw-Hill Films.
Crows comes out on limited edition cassette on October 8th, 2019, on Portland boutique label, Holiday Breath Records.
