Neuland: Longing In Motion

With a moniker that screams of that intriguing fusion of krautrock and ambiance which they create, Neuland are composed of two members of the legendary Tangerine Dream. Peter Baumann was an original member during their notorious seventies years, while Paul Haslinger was a second wave member who served the band from 1985 to 1990.

Notably, the two artists worked together some thirty years ago on a record under the name Blue Room, but that project never came to full fruition. Neuland's material though takes a more contemporary approach, and sounds paralleled to modern experimental electronica artists, such as Oneohtrix Point Never, Arca and Zombi, which in some ways can be considered followers of the forward thinking artistry, and styles which Tangerine Dream helped shape decades in the past.

"Our earliest tracks were studio experiments — compositions in search of a project," explains Haslinger. "But they were fun to make, so we started playing with conceptual ideas. And like any process of exploration, we covered a lot of different ground to land, eventually, on the mood, selection, and sequence of the album."

"No single track was more significant than any other," adds Baumann. "All of them emerged and influenced each other until, one day, they all felt like individual chapters of the same journey."

Longing In Motion is the enigmatic, superbly brooding and cinematic closer of Neuland's self-titled record which comes out October 25th, 2019.
