Chattanooga shoegazers, Lacing, return two years after the imposing debut, with their sophomore full length, Without, recorded by Mikey Allred (producer for Inter Arma) at Dark Art Studio in Nashville, and scheduled for release on October 31st, 2019 through Elder Magick Records.
Themed on trauma, anxiety and the subconscious after vocalist and guitarist Joseph Davenport's experiences growing up with an abusive and alcoholic father, the new album already sounds like a worthy successor to the deserved esteem Bummer received back in 2017, based on the couple of beautiful tracks which have surfaced thus far.
92 is a gorgeous shoegazer with underlying elements from grunge and post rock, all the way gritty, reverberating and full of fuzz, while preserving the melodiousness in the band's solid songwriting core.
If not one of the genre's best new bands, Lacing are surely one of the most hopeful ones the world of shoegazey alternative rock has to offer, continually paralleling in a deft manner between heaviness and sentimentality.
