Last time we've heard from Brooklyn-based dreampop duo, Surf Rock is Dead, was last year through their single, Away Message, which they're now following with another specimen off their upcoming full length, scheduled to come out Spring 2020.
Our Time is meticulously bent toward the more accessible side of shoegaze-y indie pop, tightly structured, spotlessly produced, and bringing to mind the extra tuneful facet of acts like Ride, DIIV and Craft Spells.
"The song just spilled out after some catchy guitar noodling turned into what would become the verse bits," say Joel Witenberg and Kevin Pariso. "Lyrically, Our Time is about the uncertain feeling of chasing after a passion, and the nighttime being the only liberating time to do so."
Drawing from personal experiences, stormy relationships and the loss of a close friend, SRiD's debut has been long in the making and overdue. Taking the band's series of early and recent singles as a guide, it's going to be a good one for which to look out.
