The Know is the new project by husband/wife duo of Daniel Knowles and Jennifer Farmer who have previously worked together as part of the dreampop trio, Ghostel. Knowles has been a producer and guitarist for the great UK shoegaze band, Amusement Parks on Fire, and a live sound engineer for Cigarettes After Sex, Sharon Van Etten, and Phoebe Bridgers, and now he produces, mixes, and masters The Know's debut EP and plays all the instruments on it, while Farmer takes on the visuals, and for the first time the lead vocals.
143 is the dreamy and very much impressive first single off the band's upcoming five-song EP, drawing inspiration from the 1974 Tom Waits classic, (Looking for) The Heart of Saturday Night, and translating it into something hazy and full of ethereal dreampop and gazey qualities.
The enchanting visual that makes Jennifer Farmer's directorial debut is a perfect match to the cunning juxtaposition of vagueness and vibrancy that's also found in the music's brilliant production and excellent arrangement, and becomes an all around delightful introduction to the capable new project.
The Know's self titled EP is expected to come out in 2020.
