Italy's Kill Your Boyfriend are singer/guitarist Matteo Scarpa and drummer Antonio Angeli, and they've been around with their ultra-dark, industrial-tinged post punk and darkwave sound since 2011, lifting their name from the 1995 one-shot comic by Grant Morrison and having shared stages with the likes of Preoccupations, Gnod, Telescopes, Zola Jesus, The KVB, Civil Civic and Zu.
The band have a new single out, the frantic Elizabeth, accompanied by a haunting, slower and more concise remix version done by Preoccupations/Viet Cong guitarist Daniel Christiansen.
Suspenseful and moody, Elizabeth is a grating, fast moving cut with a vicious introduction, a solid buildup and a climactic conclusion which assembles the darkest characteristics of all the aforementioned genres over solid patterns and a rich production evocative of krautrock and dark psychedelia.
Elizabeth is out now through Depths Records.
