Two thirds of the Watchmen scores are already out, with the third coming on December 16th, 2019, and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross unveil a stripped down instrumental of the David Bowie classic, Life On Mars?, prominently featured in the series' seventh episode.
Suitably connected to the story of Dr. Manhattan, the song becomes an appropriate addition to the world of Watchmen which Reznor and Ross have managed to exquisitely cover through their overlong and ingenious score, while it's also another entry in the long creative history between Bowie and Nine Inch Nails, including tours from the nineties, the 1997 single, I’m Afraid of Americans, and NIN covering live I Can’t Give Everything Away from Blackstar.
