tētēma is the bi-continental project consisting of the restless Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle) and the Melbourne based artist Anthony Pateras. The duo will be following their debut Geocidal from 2014 with their upcoming full length endeavor, Necroscape, arriving April 3rd, 2020 through Ipecac Recordings.
First track revealed, Haunted On The Uptake, is made of noise rocking aggression, genre mixing idiosyncrasy and a demented delivery, as the unconventional act calls attention to its ambitious intentions to deliver something convoluted and unmatched.
Pateras describes the new song: "Sounds like The Melvins' tour van broke down in the Balkans and instead of going home, they decide to open a mountain laboratory dedicated to possible hybrids of Rembetika and hardcore. This sounds like the pop music of a youth I wish I'd had, but instead I grew up in the suburbs of Melbourne smoking bongs and listening to Bungle."
Patton and Pateras are joined by Will Guthrie (percussion) and Erkka Veltheim (violin) both on Necroscape and the live version of tētēma.
